Overview

Notification Settings controls the sound your browser plays when a new message arrives, so you don't have to keep an eye on the Chats tab to know when someone messages you.

Open Settings

From the left navigation, click Settings, then click Notifications.

Configure notification sounds

Turn on Enable Sound Notifications to play a sound for incoming messages. Choose a Notification Sound from the dropdown — use the play button next to it to preview a sound before committing to it — and adjust Volume with the slider.

Field	What it does
Enable Sound Notifications	Turns the notification sound on or off.
Notification Sound	The sound played for a new message — use the play button next to the dropdown to preview it.
Volume	How loud the notification sound plays.

Expected result

Your browser plays the selected sound at the chosen volume whenever a new message arrives while this tab is open.

Test before you rely on it

If you don't hear the preview when you click play, check your device's own volume and your browser's sound permissions for this site.
